Welcome and thank you for stopping by! Through its location, in the heart of the nation’s capital, our department provides to its students a multicultural environment that is welcoming to everyone. It also provides a unique exposure to all what this great city has to offer from the Smithsonian museums to the Kennedy Center for the performing arts, to the riverside kayaking and hiking and biking trails, to mention a few cultural and social attributes.  For the electrical and computer engineering community, the greater Washington DC area offers even a lot more.  DC is undisputedly one of the largest few tech hubs.  It is home to major defense/aerospace government contractors and leading tech industry including the Amazon headquarters.  Government research labs such as NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, the Army Research Lab, the Naval Research Lab and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) complement this unique picture.  No wonder our greater DC area is among the very top in the number of tech employees, data centers and internet traffic, all of which offers enormous opportunities to our students for internships, employment and exciting class projects through our local engagements.

Our faculty are world class leaders who include six IEEE Fellows, a recipient of the IEEE Computer Society Edward J. McCluskey Technical Achievement Award, a recipient of the Alexander von Humboldt Research Award and a recipient of the U.S. Presidential PCASE Award, and many other prestigious recognitions.  Leading Government research agencies sponsor the cutting-edge research being conducted in our department with millions of dollars every year, under the supervision of our faculty.

We offer undergraduate degrees in electrical engineering and computer engineering, and graduate degrees in electrical, computer, and telecommunications engineering.  We also offer five-year bachelor of science/master of science degrees, a graduate certificate in Machine Learning, a graduate certificate in high performance computing, and doctoral degrees in electrical engineering and computer engineering.  Our high-end facilities include high-performance computing systems and a clean room; and we are housed in the state-of-the-art Science and Engineering Hall.  Students have access to services and resources to ensure their success.  Students, graduate and undergraduate, have the opportunity to participate in many exciting ongoing research projects.

I do encourage you to visit us in-person.  We will be delighted to give you a tour and answer any questions you might have.
