Prof. Louri and his research team have been awarded a three-year $1.2 Million award from NSF titled: Machine Learning Enabled Network-on-Chip Architectures Optimized for Energy, Performance and Reliability. In this research, Prof. Louri proposes a new computer architecture called IntelliNoc aimed at designing energy-efficient, reliable and scalable future computing chips. The crux of the approach is to auto-tune the chip functionality through the use of increasingly complex machine learning techniques that compute optimal decisions based on data from application execution, architecture, and current operating conditions. The proposed approach will have a far reaching impact on future computing systems and more broadly, on our national economy and modern society.
